Activities and Attractions

The Navarre Beach area has many attractions just a short drive from the beach including; touring then naval aviation history at our National Museum of Naval Aviation, feeding the giraffes and taking a train ride at The Gulf Breeze Zoo, catching a dolphin show at the Gulfarium, or riding the water slides at Big Kahunas.

Open everyday from sun up to sun down. Take a walk out on Navarre`s newest addition. The Navarre Beach Pier is 1500 feet long and considered the longest fishing pier in the Gulf of Mexico. Fisherman are reeling in pompano, flounder, cobia, king and Spanish mackerel. Walking passes are $1.00, children under age 5 are free. Adults may buy fishing passes for $7.00. Youth (15 and under) may fish for $4.00. Children under age 5 are free.

Gulf Breeze Zoo

The Gulf Breeze Zoo is a wonderful learning experience for all ages. The Zoo is home to over 900 animal species including gorillas, a Great Indian rhinoceros, monkeys, wildebeest, kangaroo, and more. You can feed alligators at the Gator Hole, visit the petting zoo, or take a ride on the Safari Line Ltd. The Safari Line Ltd. is a safari train ride through 30 acres of free-roaming animals in their habitats. The Zoo is just 10 minutes from Navarre Beach. Take a left off of the Navarre Beach Bridge and travel 8 miles west on Hwy. 98.

Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park

Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park

The Gulfarium is the world`s oldest marine show aquarium. Their mission is to provide education about sea life inhabitants and entertain at the same time. Catch one of the the Gulfarium`s sea lion or dolphin shows. Their exhibits also feature sharks, sting rays, Loggerhead turtles, otters, tropical penguins, and tropical birds. Admission hours are 9am to 3:30pm. The park closes at 4:30pm. The Gulfarium is located in Fort Walton Beach, approximately 16 miles east of Navarre Beach on Hwy. 98.

National Museum of Naval Aviation

The National Museum of Naval Aviation is located at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. Admission is free and you can see and touch over 150 restored Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard aircraft. Try your hand at flying in the flight simulators and vist the Naval Aviation Memorial Theatre where you can catch an IMAX film. You can also grab lunch or dessert in the authentic Cubi Point Officers` Club that was a stop for many Navy and Marine Corps squadrons, ships and units on the their way to the Western Pacific.

Blue Angels

Blue Angels

The National Museum of Naval Aviation also hosts the Navys Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron! Admission to the Blue Angel`s practices and autograph sessions are free, located behind the museum at NAS. Signs are posted to direct visitors to viewing and parking locations, including special spaces for handicapped visitors. Bleachers are available for seating about 1,000 people. Feel free to bring your own lawn chairs. We also suggest that visitors bring hats, sunscreen and water. The Blue Angels` practice weekly March through November pending weather conditions, please check their website for current dates.

Air Force Armament Museum

At the Air Force Armament Museum, experience the aviation warfare armament from the early days of World War I right through to today`s high tech planes and bombs. You will find an extensive collection of weaponry and interactive displays including the fastest plane ever built - the SR-71 Blackbird! Admission is free, hours are Monday-Saturday, 9:30-4:30, closed federal holidays.

Big Kahuna`s Water Park

Big Kahuna`s Water Park

Big Kahuna`s Water Park features a Lazy River, speed slides, white water tubing, two wave pools, surfing half pipe, four children`s areas with kid-sized slides, leisurely lagoons, and more! They also offer non-water activities like miniature golf and go-carts. Big Kahuna`s is located in Destin, east of Navarre Beach approximately 24 miles on Hwy 98.

Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary

Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary

The Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary (NBMS) and Artificial Reefs. These near-shore reefs allow people of all skill levels to easily view marine life and ecosystems inhabiting the reefs by traveling only a few hundred feet off-shore. Enjoy reef snorkeling, shore diving, or kayaking.

Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center

The NBSTCC is a nonprofit organization designed to showcase Northwest Florida, the Gulf of Mexico, and our unique natural resources. Meet Sweet Pea, ambassador-in-residence at the NBSTCC. Sweet Pea is a green sea turtle, who is unable to return to the wild due to injuries from marine debris. Hours of operation November-May: Tuesday-Saturday 12pm to 4pm. June through October: Tuesday-Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge

Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge

ECWR provides wildlife rescue, rehab and environmental outreach to five counties in Northwest Florida. The Refuge rescues thousands of animals a year working closely with local law enforcement, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and the US Fish and Wildlife Service to protect, treat and release native species. The Refuge also is the lead response team for the Federal Marine Mammal Stranding Network assisting with all marine-mammal strandings from mid-Walton County to the Alabama state line.

Black Water River State Park

Blackwater River State Park offers opportunities for a variety of outdoor activities. The river is one of the purest sand-bottom rivers in the nation, making this park a popular place for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking. The park also offers picnic pavilions that overlook the river. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy strolling along trails through more than 600 acres of undisturbed natural communities.
